Hey hey! It’s time for a new adventure from gezmelere gidelim — and this one might be my favorite yet. I had a quiet weekend in a scenic village just outside Fethiye and wow… this place is a full-body reset. I love discovering places that still feel real, and Kayaköy village Fethiye is just that — a peaceful blend of nature, mystery, and history. If you’re staying in an all-inclusive resort nearby and feel the itch to explore something authentic, this is your sign to break out of the buffet routine and try something wild in a calm.
Where Is Kayaköy?
Kayaköy is a short 20-minute drive from both Fethiye and Ölüdeniz on Türkiye’s Mediterranean coast. Once a Greek town called Levissi, it was abandoned after the 1923 population exchange. The stone houses have stood silently ever since — creating a hauntingly beautiful open-air museum that you can walk through freely.
Perfect if you’re into off the beaten path places in Turkey with both history and heart.
How I Got There
I landed at Dalaman Airport, grabbed a taxi, and headed straight to Kayaköy village, Fethiye. It cost me £50, and the drive was so green and relaxing — windows down, music on, pine trees everywhere.
You can also catch a dolmuş (minibus) from Fethiye or Ölüdeniz, which is super budget-friendly and gives you a more local experience.

Where to Stay
I stayed at Ensoinn, a peaceful boutique hotel surrounded by nature. It’s minimal, warm, and just what your mind needs if you’re looking to reset.
Other lovely options include:
Villa Rhapsody – Home-style comfort and a fab restaurant.
Doga Apartments – For groups or extended stays.
Kaya Villas – Private pools and countryside peace.
Eat, Drink, Recharge
Izela Restaurant – Amazing local dishes, especially their meze.
Cin Bal – Pick your meat, they grill it fresh. Rustic & fun.
Antik Restaurant – Gözleme and çay? Yes please.
My 3-Day Guided Hike: Pure Magic
Instead of going solo, I joined a guided hiking tour for 3 days, and honestly — one of the best travel choices I’ve ever made. Our guide, Melike, was incredible: supportive, bubbly, always aware of the group’s energy, and super knowledgeable. She made it feel like we were just a bunch of friends exploring together.
Kayaköy – Soğuksu Koyu
Walked a scenic trail surrounded by pine forests, ending at Soğuksu Koyu, a wild beach with zero signs, zero sunbeds, and water so clear it looked fake. We swam, we laughed, we forgot about time.

Darboğaz, St. Nicholas Island Boat Tour
We explored the ancient ruins of St. Nicholas Island, hiked along rocky paths, and took a boat tour around sea caves. Swimming breaks were the cherry on top.
Important Tip: DO NOT book the “Pirates of Caribbean” team boat — they’re super loud, packed, and totally ruin the peaceful vibe. Total tourist trap. Choose a small, local boat instead — ask around in Kayaköy or Fethiye marina, and you’ll find calmer, more authentic options.
Afkule Monastery
We hiked up to the incredible Afkule Monastery, built into a cliff. The view? Unreal. The building itself? Like a monk’s version of a modern apartment. It’s peaceful, a little eerie, and totally unforgettable. You feel tiny and connected all at once.
Essential Tips for Your Kayaköy Adventure
Wear sturdy hiking shoes — the trails are rocky and uneven.
Pack a refillable water bottle and swimming gear.
Plan your visit during spring or autumn for ideal temperatures.
Choose small business instead of large commercial ones.
Why Kayaköy Is a Must (Even If You’re All-Inclusive!)
I get it. All-inclusives are easy. But places like Kayaköy village in Fethiye remind you why you travel in the first place — for stories, silence, community, and nature. You don’t have to “rough it” to visit. Just spend a day walking these trails, sipping local tea, and watching the sunset over the ruins. You’ll return with something money can’t buy. Kayaköy offers something different: real connection with nature, history, and Turkish culture. If you’re staying at a resort in Fethiye or Ölüdeniz, take just one day to explore here — you won’t regret it. The hikes, the ruins, the food, the stillness… they stay with you longer than any cocktail ever could.
