How to Go ✈️🚗

Getting to this slice of Italian heaven is pretty easy — and a little adventurous! I landed at Napoli Airport (Naples), and here’s my first big tip: rent a car. Trust me, public transport can be a real test of patience here, especially if you want the freedom to explore small beaches and hidden villages.

Important: Go for full insurance when renting! The roads are narrow, busy, and let’s just say — no car here survives without a few scratches or bumps. It’s part of the local charm, I promise!

Bonus Tip: Stay one night in Napoli before heading towards the Amalfi Coast. Naples is an explosion of culture, pizza, and energy — it deserves your time (and I’ll write a full Napoli guide soon!).

Where to Stay 🏡🌿

Forget about crowded tourist hotels and all-inclusive resorts. If you want a real Italian summer experience, stay with locals!

We found a family-owned Airbnb in Sant’Agata, and it was pure magic. 🪟🌸 The house had soul, charm, and the most breathtaking views. The hosts were incredibly friendly — like getting adopted by an Italian family for a few days. 🥹

Sant’Agata is calm, authentic, and perfectly located: close enough to famous towns but far enough to escape tourist madness. Highly recommend if you want sunsets, good wine, peace, and real Italian life.

Top Attractions 🌞🌊🍋

Boat Tour to Amalfi & Positano 🚤🏖️

I cannot shout this loud enough: book a boat tour!

We joined Coop Sant’Antonio’s Amalfi – Positano tour — and it was the best decision ever. Driving to Amalfi and Positano by car? Nightmare. Traffic jams, zero parking, frustration.

Arriving by boat? Pure Mediterranean bliss. You get plenty of free time in Amalfi and Positano to wander, eat, shop, and soak in the views. Walking around the small streets, colorful houses, and scenic balconies felt like stepping into a dream.

Cooking Class 🍝🍷

When in Italy… cook like an Italian!

We took a cooking class at Agriturismo Fattoria Terranova, and it was an unforgettable experience.

We learned how to make classic Italian dishes with fresh local ingredients, and then we all sat down together for a long, lazy lunch — eating everything we created. 🤌✨

After this class, I swear, I can bring the taste of Italy into my kitchen at home too!

Beaches & Hidden Coves 🏖️🌴

Looking for secret beaches away from tourist crowds? I got you. 💦🌞

Puolo Beach: A charming fisherman’s village where locals swim. Fresh seafood restaurants, seaside cocktails, and that beautiful turquoise sea. (Most people will speak Italian here — pure vibe!)

Baia di Ieranto: A magical beach after a 30-min hike. It’s worth every step. 🌿 Bring a cold bag with drinks/snacks because there’s nothing commercial down there — just nature and you.

Cala Mitigliano: Rocky beach with clean, crystal-clear waters. A short walk down from the parking area. Again: pack your food and cold drinks!

Fornillo Beach (Positano): Quieter than the main Positano beach. Perfect if you want to swim without the chaos.

Marina di Praia: A little Amalfitano-style cove, picture-perfect and cozy.

Pro Tip: Hit the beaches early (9–10 AM) or after 4 PM to avoid the midday tourist heat!

Romantic Moments: Sunset & Sunrise 🌅

Now, the magic part for all romantic souls out there!

Sant’Agata hills: Sunset with a countryside-meets-sea view. Open a bottle of local wine, find a quiet bench, and just enjoy golden hour with no crowds.

Puolo Beach at Sunrise: Fishermen getting ready, the sea calm like a mirror, and that pastel sky… it’s pure poetry.

Positano Sunset from a boat: If you can time your return from the boat tour close to sunset, you’ll see Positano glow in pinks and oranges. Absolutely unforgettable. 🚤💖

Baia di Ieranto (sunset hike): If you hike back up during sunset, the trail becomes golden and magical.

Where to Eat 🍝🍋🍷

Ohhh mamma mia, get ready to eat your heart out:

Lo Stuzzichino: A cozy, family-run spot famous for their homemade gnocchi  — cheesy, tomatoey goodness.

Da Mimi: Perfect place for wood-fired pizzas and fresh, simple seafood pastas.

Ristorante Don Alfonso 1890: Michelin-starred gem where you can experience a tasting menu featuring ingredients from their own organic farm.

La Torre One Fire: A joyful pizzeria with a family vibe — pizza nights, limoncello shots, and singing guaranteed.

Ristorante Don Vito: Go here for classic Sorrento-style seafood risotto that feels like a hug.

Quattro Passi: Fine dining with breathtaking views — their lemon-infused fish dishes are a must-try.

Taverna del Capitano: Seafood heaven with fresh catch of the day and homemade pastas.

La Selva di Fusco Antonio: Rustic, countryside flavors — don’t miss their slow-cooked rabbit and handmade ravioli.

Cuppa D’Amalfi: Fresh plates, perfect for a relaxed meal between sightseeing.

Sandwich at Luisa Gastronomic Artigianale: Grab a lovingly crafted panino full of local ingredients.

Lemon Ice Cream in Positano: Cool down with a refreshing, creamy limone gelato under the sun.

Wine Lovers’ Paradise 🍷🍇

Italy without wine? Impossible. Some vineyard gems for you:

Cantina Marisa Cuomo: In the hills above Amalfi, where you absolutely must try their legendary Fiorduva — a golden, rich white wine full of sunshine and citrus notes.

La Cigna dei Deli Winery: Small, family-run winery where the star is their Aglianico red wines — bold, earthy, and perfect for a sunset toast.

Even if you don’t have time for a full winery tour, be sure to taste these wines at local restaurants — they truly capture the soul of the Amalfi Coast.

Final Travel Tips 💬

Pack light & comfy shoes: Amalfi Coast = hills, stairs, narrow streets.

Be patient with driving/parking: It’s all part of the Italian adventure.

Learn a few Italian words: Locals appreciate it so much.

Bring a cold bag: For your hikes and hidden beaches!

Smile and say “Ciao!” often: It’s the key to magical encounters.

Hit the beaches early or late: Avoid the tourist midday heat and crowds.

Take time to simply wander: Some of the best moments happen without a plan.

Eat slow, drink slower: That’s the Italian way.

Let yourself get lost: That’s where the real magic hides.

If I had to find the words to explain why I fell so deeply in love with this corner of Italy, Italian Summer in Sorrento and Amalfi Coast, it would be this: it’s the perfect dance between chaos and beauty, between vibrant life and peaceful soul. One moment you’re sipping a strong espresso in a noisy piazza, the next you’re standing on a cliffside, speechless at how the sea catches the light. The colors, the smells, the smiles — they wrap around you and make you feel like you’re part of something timeless.

Here, you don’t just visit, you live — even if just for a few days. It’s the slow lunches under lemon trees, the way locals wave at you like you’re a long-lost friend, the sound of church bells mingling with the sea breeze. The hikes that steal your breath not just from the effort but from the view. It’s getting lost and discovering a tiny beach where life feels beautifully simple. The Sorrento and Amalfi Coast area is not just a destination — it’s a feeling, a memory that settles deep into your heart and whispers: you have to come back for another italian summer in Sorrento and Amalfi Coast.
